Arctic Warriors Face Off Against Icy Foes
Exercise Tests Soldiers' Ability to Fight in Subzero Temperatures
1350 Enemies Found in Lower Yard Area of Ice Castle
The U.S. Army's 4-25th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Airborne Spartans recently faced off against a formidable foe: 1350 enemies found in the lower yard area of the Ice Castle located in the Second Sea. The exercise, codenamed Arctic Warrior, was designed to test the soldiers' ability to fight in subzero temperatures and the challenging terrain of Alaska.
The Arctic Warrior exercise involved more than 8000 soldiers and included a 150-mile helicopter deep strike flying a rocket. The 11-day training event primarily focused on the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Airborne out of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
The exercise was a success, and the soldiers demonstrated their ability to operate in the harsh conditions of the Arctic. The training will help the Army prepare for future operations in the region, where climate change is making the Arctic more accessible to potential adversaries.
