Earned Runs in the Last Half

The Houston Astros took advantage of two Kansas City Royals errors in the eighth inning to score four runs and beat the Royals 6-3 on Tuesday night.

Errors Lead to Runs

The Royals committed two errors in the eighth inning, which allowed the Astros to score four unearned runs.

The first error came on a ground ball by Jose Altuve, which was misplayed by Royals shortstop Nicky Lopez. The second error came on a throw by Royals pitcher Jake Brentz, which allowed Yordan Alvarez to reach base.

The Astros took advantage of the errors and scored four runs on three hits, including a two-run double by Kyle Tucker.

Astros Overcome Early Deficit

The Astros trailed 3-2 entering the eighth inning, but they rallied to win the game.

The Astros scored two runs in the first inning on a home run by Yordan Alvarez, but the Royals came back to tie the game in the second inning on a home run by Bobby Witt Jr.

The Royals took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Salvador Perez, but the Astros tied the game in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Chas McCormick.

Bullpen Shines

The Astros bullpen was solid in relief of starter Luis Garcia.

Garcia allowed three runs on six hits in five innings of work, but the bullpen pitched four scoreless innings to earn the win.

Phil Maton (1-0) earned the win, while Ryan Pressly recorded his 10th save of the season.
