Lando Spin-Off Series Cancelled, Confirms Director Justin Simien
Disney Drops Planned Project
Original Story by Zain ul Abedin
Director Justin Simien has announced the disappointing news that the planned Lando spin-off series for Disney+ has been scrapped. The highly anticipated project, which was set to star Donald Glover as the iconic Star Wars character, will no longer be moving forward.
Simien expressed his disappointment in a recent interview, stating, "There was a Bible, there was concept art, there were scripts. It was very, very close to happening." However, Simien remained tight-lipped about the reasons behind the project's cancellation.
The Lando spin-off series was initially announced in 2020, with Simien attached to direct and Glover set to reprise his role as the lovable rogue. The series was expected to explore Lando's backstory and adventures in the Star Wars universe.
Despite the cancellation of the Lando series, fans can still look forward to other Star Wars projects in development. These include the upcoming "The Mandalorian" Season 3, "Ahsoka," and "Skeleton Crew."
