Canadian Grand Prix Preview
Russell on Pole as Red Bull Struggles
George Russell has taken pole position for Mercedes at the Canadian Grand Prix, with reigning world champion Max Verstappen starting only sixth for Red Bull. It is the first pole position of the season for Russell and Mercedes, and the first time a non-Red Bull driver has started on pole since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in April.
Russell's Strong Form Continues
Russell has been in impressive form in recent races, finishing on the podium in each of the last three races. He will be hoping to convert his pole position into a race win, which would be his first victory in Formula 1.
Verstappen's Struggles
Verstappen, meanwhile, has struggled for pace in recent races, and has not won since the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in June. He will be hoping to turn his form around in Canada, but will have a lot of work to do from sixth on the grid.
Other Contenders
Other drivers in contention for victory include Lewis Hamilton, who starts second for Mercedes, and Carlos Sainz, who starts third for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc, who won the last race in Austria, starts fourth for Ferrari.
Race Time
The Canadian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, June 19th, at 2pm local time (-4 GMT) at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
